Ninazu

Ninazu holds together two things that look incompatible: he is a god of the underworld and a god of healing, and his name says healer outright. The combination is not explained in the sources, though a god who can go down and come back is the obvious one to ask about recovery from illness. He is also credited in one tradition with bringing grain to people. His cult sat at Eshnunna in the north and Enegi in the south, and his son is Ningishzida.
