Mortal founder of the Third Dynasty of Ur (~2112-2095 BCE) — the canonical Sumerian-renaissance dynasty that re-established Sumerian language and culture as the imperial-administrative norm after the Akkadian-Gutian interregnum. Promulgated the Code of Ur-Nammu — the earliest surviving law code in human history. Built the Great Ziggurat of Ur (the Etemenniguru). Died in battle c. 2095 BCE per the Death of Ur-Nammu hymn (ETCSL 2.4.1.1) — one of the canonical-foundational Sumerian elegiac compositions. Historical father of Šulgi (the existing registry routes the divine-paternity claim through the royal-hymn Ninsun + Lugalbanda tradition, but the canonical historical paternity is preserved here as father-of relation).
