Empung Wailan Wangko (also Opo Empung, Opo Wailan Wangko, Kasuruan Wangko, Empung Renga-rengan) is the supreme deity of the pre-Christian Minahasan religion of North Sulawesi. The several names are widely understood by Minahasans as titles of a single high god rather than separate beings: as creator and owner of the universe, as the source of long life, health and prosperity, and as guardian and protector of the people. In the creation cycle this god surveys the still-empty land, decides it must be inhabited, and sends the first priestess Karema to bring life to it. The god is the recipient of the firstfruits in the agrarian thanksgiving ceremony (rumages), an offering (rages) presented with sincerity of heart, and the religion that centred on this deity is remembered as the Tonaas-Walian faith of the priestly specialists.
