The dual-creator-couple structure is foundational Mixtec cosmogony and parallels (without being derived from) the Aztec/Mexica Ometeotl / Ometecuhtli + Omecihuatl pairing. Less narratively-elaborated than Lord 1 Deer in the codex tradition (the Codex Vindobonensis devotes more page-space to the male partner) but pantheon-functionally equal.
