Idjair is named in Kimberley Dreaming accounts as the first of the Wandjina, remaining aloof in the Milky Way while his descendants came down to shape the earth. He fathers the whole company of rain-bearing Wandjina, chief among them Wallungunder, who made the land and the first people. Idjair himself does not descend; his role is that of a remote sky-source of the creative beings who follow.
