Jungun, bearing the name of the owlet nightjar, is the companion of Wodoi and the second of the two Gwion ancestral law-givers. Together the pair win the sacred object manjilarri and convene the clans at the stone table where the Wunan, the great law of sharing, is agreed. By exchanging children in marriage with Wodoi, Jungun founds the complementary moiety, so that the two nightjar divisions must always marry across, never within. In Ngarinyin telling the two heroes are inseparable, their paired action the origin of ordered society itself.
