Nuradin

Nogai · mortal · Nogai traditional religion; continuing · mortal

Nuradin, son of Edige, is both an epic hero who continues his father's feats and a historical prince (Nur ad-Din, died about 1440). His memory was institutionalised in the Nogai Horde, whose second-highest office, ranking just below the bey, was called the nuradin after him. In the heroic songs he inherits the unfinished quarrel with the house of Toqtamish, extending the Edige cycle into a second generation.
