Hermóðr
Norse · deity · mythic prehistoric · Recorded classification
The errand succeeds and then fails on a technicality: Hel agrees to release Baldr if every single thing in the world weeps for him, and one giantess will not. The registry held Baldr, Hel and Odin and not the messenger who went between them, which left the most consequential negotiation in the mythology without a negotiator.
