The most depicted scene in Viking-age art after the crucifixion is Thor in a boat with a line over the side and a serpent on the end of it, and the man in the other end of the boat — who cuts the line — is Hymir. The registry held the god and the serpent and not the boat's owner. The errand is a domestic one: the gods want to brew beer and need a pot.
