Sól
Norse · deity · primordial · Recorded classification
The sun is a driver, not a light: she is a woman under orders, on a route, being chased. The Norse sky is the only major cosmology in this registry in which the sun is permanently in danger and finally caught, which is what a Ragnarök-shaped religion looks like from underneath. The registry held neither her nor her brother; the sweep matched 'Sol' to the Roman sun god and 'Mani' to a Nuer figure, which is how a name-only check misleads.
