Manaakays is named in Nuxalk religious tradition as the son of the creator and father-god Alhkuntam. He completes a small upper-world family that pairs the maker with a divine son and sets both against the sky-goddess Qamaits. He is the least elaborated of the principal figures in the surviving record, appearing chiefly as the creator's son within the household of the upper world rather than as the protagonist of a developed cycle of narrative.
