Ngulube is the apical ancestor of the Ngonde ruling dynasty, the hero who, in the traditions recorded by Godfrey Wilson and later historians, migrated from the Kinga country (Bukinga) in the Livingstone Mountains and established the line from which the Kyungu descends. He belongs to the same cycle of highland origins as the Nyakyusa divine brothers, in which fire, iron and chieftainship are carried down from Ukinga into the lands north of Lake Nyasa.
