Mortal-tier 16th Oba of Benin (~1547-1578 CE per Egharevba 1968). Educated in the Portuguese Christian missionary tradition during his father Esigie's syncretism-period — the canonical first formal European-tradition education of a future West African monarch. During the westward naval-expedition campaigns to Dahomey, established a war-camp on the island that became Lagos — naming it Eko (the Edo word for "war camp"). The Eko foundation is the canonical-historical origin of Lagos / Lagos Island.
