Taranjelos
Ossetian · deity · cosmogonic · deity
THE THIRD OF GOD'S THREE TEARS FOR BATRAZ. These are the three great Ossetian sanctuaries, and the epic makes them heavenly-dwellers rather than mere places — which is why they are held as figures. The corpus already had the tears, on Batraz's own record, and not one of the three.

Sources
- Reference treatment of Rekom, Mykalgabyrtæ and Taranjelos: in the Nart epic the heavenly-dwellers Mikalgabirta, Rekom and Taranjelos arose where God's three tears fell, shed over the death of Batraz; Mikalgabirta is a popular cult among Ossetian Christians, which carries the names of the two angel-saints Michael and Gabriel, and Mykalgabyrtæ is one of the three main sanctuaries of Ossetia; Rekom is also named among the important shrines dedicated to Uastyrdzhi.
