Đăm Par Kvây

Rade (Ede) · mortal · Rade (Ede) traditional religion; continuing · mortal

Đăm Par Kvây is a wealthy neighbouring chief and friend of the hero, whose long-house Đăm Săn visits on his travels. He offers generous hospitality and, as a voice of prudence within the epic, warns Đăm Săn against felling the sacred smuk tree of his wives' lineage and against the reckless journey to woo the Sun-Goddess, foreseeing the disaster these will bring. His counsel, unheeded, frames the hero's defiance and its fatal outcome.
