Tangiia-nui (the Founding Navigator)

Tangiia-nui is the great founding ancestor-navigator of Rarotonga in the traditions recorded by Te Ariki-tara-are; arriving by voyaging canoe, he and the Samoan chief Karika partitioned the island between their lines, the charter of Rarotongan chieftainship.
