Daunus

Mortal Apulian-Rutulian king at Ardea in the Aeneid; husband of the Italic spring-goddess Venilia; father of Turnus and Juturna. The senior-Italic-king pattern that the Vergilian narrative requires for Turnus to inherit a substantial kingdom and command the Italic alliance against the Trojan settlement.
