Roman/Ovidian demigod, son of the sun-god Sol (Phoebus) by the Oceanid Clymene. His doomed ride in the chariot of the sun, ending in his fall and death by Jupiter thunderbolt, is told in Ovid Metamorphoses 2; his sisters the Heliades wept amber for him.
