Bulan

Rote · numen · Rote traditional religion; continuing · numen

Bula, the moon, is the twin term of the sun in the paired ritual designation Bula Kai // Ledo Holo. The moon rules the night and, through its waxing and waning, measures the months and the ritual calendar; the single Rotinese word bulan names both the moon and the month. Like the sun, it is understood as an aspect of the Lord of the Sun and Moon rather than a separate deity of cult.
