Madder-attje

Sámi · deity · mythic · deity

Sami ancestral father-god, consort of the origin-mother Maderakka (sami_mattarahkka). The pair Madder-akka and Madder-attje are the ancestress and ancestor (mattar meaning root or ancestor, with akka meaning mother and attje meaning father). He appears on some drums but with a much smaller role than his wife and is held to be a later addition; he is named in the registry as the male counterpart of Maderakka. Wired here only as her spouse, not as father of the three Akka daughters, whose paternity the sources do not make explicit.
