Saveasiʻuleo

Samoan · deity · mythic · deity

Saveasiʻuleo, the half-man, half-moray-eel Aliʻi (lord) of Pulotu, the Samoan spirit-world; brother of Ulufanuaseseʻe (recorded in this note rather than as a relation, since the brother is not separately authored), and father of the war-goddess Nafanua, whose birth was concealed from him because he devoured his offspring. He commissions and arms Nafanua for the war of liberation. Documented by Turner, Krämer and Stair (secondary).
