Altyn-Syryk, 'Golden Pillar', is the hero of a Shor heroic tale recorded and published together with Kan-Pergen in the scholarly edition of Shor epics. A superhuman alp of the sung epic tradition, he crosses the vast landscape of the tale in the recurring pattern of quest, marriage-suit and single combat against hostile heroes and monstrous foes, mounted on the prescient warhorse without which no Shor alp acts.
