Mikula Selyaninovich
Slavic · mortal · bylina medieval · mortal
The most ideologically loaded figure in the Russian epic — the peasant who is stronger than every armed hero in the cycle, and stronger because he works the ground rather than in spite of it — and the registry held the armed heroes and not him. His usual companion in the byliny is Volga Svyatoslavich, who is not in this batch: the search that returned Mikula did not return a usable treatment of Volga, and he is carried as a BLOCKED row rather than written from memory.
