Manduasum is a village-protecting deity of the Lanjia Saora of Rayagada and Gajapati districts in southern Odisha. According to Lanjia belief as recorded in recent heritage documentation, the deity of Manduasum protects the village from the attack of wild animals and from epidemics; offerings are made near its shrine, which formerly stood inside the village, a custom now nearly extinct, and offerings are said to be made jointly to Manduasum and Sandisum for the protection and safety of the community. INTACH's documentation of Saura intangible heritage lists the idol of Manduasum, together with those of Jodisum and Lurnisum, among the deities worshipped on various occasions and at all the harvesting festivals. A replica of the Mandua Sum shrine stands among the tribal shrine crafts enshrined in the open-air sacred complex of the Odisha State Tribal Museum in Bhubaneswar.
