Tungkuyanin is a deity of the outermost sky, seated upon the covering or roof of the skyworld above the region of Awan-awan. He keeps his face perpetually turned downward, for it is said that should he raise his head and look upon the earth, the world would be undone. He embodies a restrained cosmic danger held in permanent check at the edge of the ordered universe.
