Hiro
Tahitian · demigod · mythic prehistoric · demigod
Hiro is the East-Polynesian navigator-hero in his Society-Islands form — the half-divine culture-hero of Ra'iātea, master builder of the great pahi voyaging-canoes, slayer of sea-monsters and protector of seafarers, and proverbially the patron of thieves for his cunning. Henry's Ancient Tahiti gives him a wife, Vai-tu-marie, and a child, Marama ('Moonlight'). He is authored as a demigod of the late, voyaging mythic-prehistoric horizon.
