Tạo Ngần

Tai Dam (Black Tai) · mortal · Tai Dam (Black Tai) traditional religion; continuing · mortal

Tạo Ngần, son of Tạo Xuông, is the second of the paired founding ancestors of the Black Tai chronicle. He entrenches Tai rule in Mường Lò, the basin his father opened, making it the springboard for the later Tai expansion across the Northwest. The genealogies reckon the conqueror Lạng Chượng within this Lò lordly line, though the recensions differ on how many generations separate them; whether Lạng Chượng is Tạo Ngần's near or remote descendant is left variable in the tradition. Tạo Ngần is honored among the founding ancestral spirits.
