The 'dark god' of Sangam Tamil religion, tutelary deity of the pastoral mullai landscape and the most frequently named god of the Sangam corpus, accorded supreme (paramporuḷ) status in the Paripāṭal; later identified with Viṣṇu/Kṛṣṇa but Dravidian in conception.
