Pedong Nane is the great mother of the Adi cosmogony recorded among the Padam and Minyong subtribes of the Tani peoples. In the genealogical chain that begins with Keyum, the first life, and Sedi, the creator of the world, she stands in the sixth generation; married to Yidum Bote, she gives birth in succession to the gods and goddesses, the spirits, the animals and at last to Abotani (Doni Aaji), her youngest and weakest issue, who becomes the first human. Through her the divine creative order is linked directly to the mortal lineage of the Tani peoples.
