A class of indigenous Tibetan territorial deities ('gods of the local place'), often identified with sacred mountains, protecting a valley, village, or peak; predating Buddhism and later integrated as Buddhist and Bön protectors. Some, like Yarlha Shampo, manifest as a white yak.
