Takama, the servant-companion of Tin Hinan in the Kel Ahaggar foundation legend, travelled with her mistress from the Tafilalt to the Hoggar and there became the ancestress of the vassal (imghad) tribes, among them the Dag Rali and the Ait Loaien. Where Tin Hinan's line is remembered as noble, Takama's is remembered as tributary, and the paired descent of the two women furnishes the traditional charter for the ranked order of Ahaggar society.
