Öwez

Öwez is the adopted son of Görogly in the Turkmen epic cycle. A youth of famed beauty, he is carried off to Çandybil and raised by the childless hero, whose deep attachment to him drives whole episodes of abduction, ransom, and rescue. In the dastan he matures into one of the bravest champions of Görogly's warband.
