Wawulja
Warlpiri · demigod · Warlpiri traditional religion; continuing · demigod
Wawulja is an ancestral man of the Tanami whom the Warlpiri gloss as 'the Invincible'. His story carries the recurrent Central Desert motif of wrong marriage: he took his own daughters as wives, and from that union the Two Men, the Wati-Kutjarra, are descended. His figure anchors the eastern, Warlpiri-side account of the Two Men within a named genealogy, distinguishing it from the Western Desert versions of the same pair.
