A'amo, the Moon, is the companion of the Sun and the second of the two celestial protagonists of Xavante myth. Where the Sun is wise and capable, the Moon is impetuous and prone to failure, and his blunders in the course of their shared wanderings account for features of the present world. His myths are told in tandem with those of the Sun, most fully in the 'Dream of the Moon and the Sun' set down by Giaccaria and Heide.
