Bibi Mushkilkusho ('Lady Who Undoes Difficulties') is the companion patroness of Bibi Seshanbe in the women's devotional life of the Tajik world, including the Yaghnob valley. Her name is spoken in vows and thank-offerings made when a hardship has been resolved or a wish fulfilled, and her rite, like that of Bibi Seshanbe, is held in a small gathering of women with consecrated food. The two ladies are often invoked together, and both are held to derive from a pre-Islamic cult of a female protector of women and the home.
