Posonaʼ

Yanesha · numen · Yanesha traditional religion; continuing · numen

Posonaʼ is the primordial salt-person whose body became the Cerro de la Sal, the great salt mountain of the central selva. In myth she was transformed into the edible salt that the Yanesha mined and carried in trade, making the mountain both a natural resource and a sacred body. The Cerro de la Sal drew Yanesha, Ashaninka and other peoples into commercial and ritual exchange, and Posonaʼ stands as the divine origin of that shared place of encounter.
