Yompor Rret
Yanesha · deity · Yanesha traditional religion; continuing · deity
Yompor Rret is the harsh sun that lit the world before the present era. His cruelty toward the Yanesha, whom he scorched and mistreated, brought about his downfall: he was displaced by the benevolent Yompor Ror and, in some tellings, turned to stone. Sources differ on his relationship to the divinity Yompere, whose name resembles his and with whom he is occasionally identified, but the dominant tradition keeps the malignant former sun distinct from the brother-divinities who accompanied Ror's ascent.
