Mostafa Dawan is one of the seven holy companions of the central divine manifestation in Yarsani belief. He is most often identified with the archangel Azrael, the angel of death and transformation, and is counted among the four members of the heptad whose presence is held necessary for the Divine to manifest and a new cycle to open. Like the other companions of Soltan Sahak he founded one of the spiritual lineages of the Ahl-e Haqq, and he is named, with the rest of the heptad, in the Gurani sacred poetry chanted to the tanbur.
