Lochin-pogil, the 'Master of Fire' or 'Man of Fire' (Lochin-Shoromo), is the domestic patron deity of the Yukaghir family. He lives within the hearth, and without his goodwill people cannot kindle fire; quarrelling with him or polluting the fire brings misfortune on the household. The hearth fire receives a share of food, fat and tobacco, and the Master of Fire travels with the family when it shifts camp, making him the most intimate and ever-present of the master-spirits.
