Megwomets is the giver of vegetable food, the being who dispenses acorns and the other wild plant foods on which subsistence depends. He is pictured as a squat, long-bearded dwarf who carries a great pack, and he is invoked for abundance and plenty. Among the woge concerned with human provision he stands beside the bringers of salmon as a guarantor of the food supply.
