Ngweg is the dragon king of the Zhuang and ruler of the waters, the lowest of the three cosmic realms. Lord of the rivers, springs and the submerged world, he is the counterpart of the thunder god Gyaj in heaven and the creator Baeuqloxdoh on the human earth. The dragon king commands floods and the river-waters that irrigate the wet-rice terraces of the Guangxi karst valleys, and offerings are made to him to secure water and avert inundation.
