The Sosanver epithet ("Dedicated to the Plane Tree") preserves a distinctive Armenian dendrolatric ritual association: the sacred plane-tree at Armavir was the divinatory oracle of the Haykazuni court, with the rustling of leaves interpreted as divine speech (Khorenatsi 1.20). The ritual association is one of the most-distinctive non-Iranic-syncretic survivals in Armenian mythology, preserving an indigenous Armenian arboreal-cult complex predating the Achaemenid-Parthian Iranic-syncretic overlay.
