Twin co-founder of Sassoun (Sasun) in the medieval Armenian heroic epic Sasna Tsřer (Daredevils of Sassoun); first-generation hero of the four-generation Sassoun dynastic-genealogical cycle. Conceived by his mother Tsovinar through drinking sacred water from the Milky Sea (Katnaghbiur) — the miraculous-conception narrative, paralleling but distinct from the Ossetian Soslan stone-impregnation, is treated in the registry as mortal-mother + sacred-water-conception (not a forbidden-parent-class pattern), preserving Sanasar's strict-pass eligibility. Founded the fortress of Sassoun in the highland-region southwest of Lake Van — the eponymous capital of the heroic dynasty. The lightning-sword (tour-keatsakar) is the legendary Sassoun-dynasty heirloom-weapon, passed down through Mher the Elder and David of Sassoun. The Sasna Tsřer was first textually collected by Garegin Srvandzteants in 1873 (Mokats Mirza) and academically edited by Manuk Abeghian (1936-1951).
