Kientibakori

Asháninka · deity · Asháninka traditional religion; continuing · deity

Kientibakori is the malevolent creator and dark counterpart of the benevolent transformer-gods. Where Pavá and the tasorentsi make good things by blowing, Kientibakori brings forth the demons (kamári) and the biting, venomous, and harmful creatures that plague the world. He presides over the demonic host and stands as the cosmic antagonist of the good spirits. The figure is shared with, and especially elaborated among, the closely related Matsigenka and Nomatsiguenga, and Asháninka accounts of the origin of evil beings assign them to his making.
