Tepoztecatl
Aztec/Mexica · deity · cosmogonic · deity
Tepoztecatl is the one of the four hundred rabbits who got a temple. The Centzon Totochtin are a collective — four hundred meaning innumerable, each one a different degree or flavour of drunkenness — and this registry does not ingest collectives; but several of them have names, and this one has a town, a cliff-top pyramid that still stands above Tepoztlan, and a festival that survived the conquest by moving to a saint's day. His calendar name, Two Rabbit, doubles as the generic title for any pulque god, which makes him both a specific deity and the word for his own class.
