He is the one the stories are funniest about, and the folding donkey is why. A magician who can fold his mount into a square of paper and tuck it in his sleeve is a particular kind of joke about immortality — the powers are absurd, casually held, and used for getting about. He also has a martial art named after him, which is more than most gods manage.
