Zhu Bajie

The novel's comic engine and, more than the monkey, its human one — a demoted officer with a pig's face who wants dinner, a wife and a rest, and who is not much interested in enlightenment. He is the only member of the party whose fall is sexual and whose punishment is a body that advertises it. The registry held Chang'e, whom he propositioned, and Sun Wukong, who bullies him, and not him.
