Anuket

Anuket is the cataract: the place where the river narrows between granite and turns to white water, which is the southern edge of Egypt proper. Her island, Sehel, sits in the middle of it and is covered with rock inscriptions cut by travellers, quarrymen and officials with business at the frontier. She is the daughter of the triad, and the gazelle is hers, which is the animal of the dry country on either side.
