Satis

Satis is the flood arriving. The Egyptians believed the inundation came out of caverns at the First Cataract, so the gods of that one stretch of river were the gods of whether the country ate: Khnum who holds the source, Satis who is the force of the water coming down, and Anuket who is the cataract itself. She wears the white crown of Upper Egypt with antelope horns on it and carries a bow, because the southern border and the flood arrive through the same gap in the rocks. Her sanctuary on Elephantine started as a niche between three boulders and was rebuilt on that exact spot for three thousand years.
