Pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty (~1479-1458 BCE). One of the few female pharaohs to fully assume the male-pharaoh iconographic register. Her Birth Cycle at Deir el-Bahari is the canonical Egyptian template for the divine-paternity claim — Amun visiting Ahmose in the form of Thutmose I. Mortuary temple at Deir el-Bahari is iconographically among the most distinctive structures of the New Kingdom. Subject to systematic damnatio memoriae after her death.
